Looking at the tail plans it occured to me that I'm very close to having all the details and ribs finished. At this point I'm considering remaking one of the vertical stabilizer ribs, but I thought I'd start the assembly, and if needed remake it one I see how it fits. From the plans, and other comments I've read, these ribs have to be very accurate in length or they won't line up with the holes in the pre-cut skin.
Anyway, I decided to work on the Forward Spar Assembly. This was only the second assembly I've done, and I get a little up tight when I start drilling parts that I've taken so much care to make correctly. Mistakes here can ruin multiple details.
Good news. I got it all drilled and cleco'd. The small clips were kind of a pain. I started by assembling the long channel, and the Forward Spar Fitting. Then I drilled one clip as a time on either side of the assembly. Maybe I could have disassembled the first two pieced, and drilled just using the predrilled channel as the template for all the pieces that connect to it, but I decided to keep the two big pieces assembled.
