Brief Description: Completing Upper Firewall Former
I almost finished the Upper Firewall Former today. The problem is, I don't have the needed Southco fasteners. First I was supposed to have recieved 6, but only recieved 5 correct and 1 incorrect fasteners. Second, I actually need 7 according to the plan, so I don't know why the fuselage hardward list only listed 6.
So this pretty much completes the F17 drawing, as I'm within 10 minutes of completing the former once I get the required fasteners...really.
This is the first time I've worked with steel, and found it a bit more challenging than aluminum. Besides being harder to drill as mentioned in a previous port, the burrs left from drilling can be razor sharp. I have a couple tiny cuts to prove it.
