Brief Description:  A crappy day

Well, another day working problems. First, I took pictures of what I believe to be an off angle issue with the flap handle. I suspect that the handle is to move in a plane parallel to the centerline of the aircraft. It doesn't and, as seen in the pictures, it appears that the mounting tab and bushing were welded out of proper alignment. I'll review this with the factory tomorrow.

Then, I carefully installed the control column and set about to shim it on its mounting tabs when I discovered that the force needed to move the control sticks fore and aft varied quite a bit. I removed 3 of the four mounting bolts from the mounting bracket (right end) and noticed that it wanted to rotate about its vertical axis as the stick was moved fore and aft.

In hopes that this issue was caused by surface irregularities on the side opposite the weld of the bushing on the (right side) control column end, I carefully cut a hole in the bottom of the column and filed the irregularities flat with the surface of the end piece. Alas, that wasn't the issue and now I'm pretty much out of ideas; it appears that the problem is the bushing the mounting bolt (right end of the column) rotates in is not coaxial with the mounting bushing on the left end of the column. More to follow.
