Riveted the saddle 6-B-21-5 to the rear of the fuselage and the angles on the top of the stabilizer as described in drawing 6-S-4. This finishes construction work on the empennage.
Connected the elevator control cables. Experimented with elevator control operation, and noted places where binding or interference occurred. I realizeed that the weight of the elevator made the control movement effort too much just to raise the elevator to neutral position. This would diminish the effectiveness of the "Up" trim which has been reported as a problem on the 601. If a spring were to be attached to one of the elevator cables and tensioned to raise the elevator to neutral position, the excess effort to raise the elevator would be eliminated and "Up" trim would be more effective.
