Brief Description: Aft Fuelage Bulkheads
|
|
Nearly two weeks since I worked on the RV-7...
Today I edge and hole deburred the aft fuselage bulkheads. I also fluted the top corners of the F-706, 707, and 708 bulkhead. The tabs on the bottom corners of the F-706, 707, and 708, and the top corners of the F-707 bulkhead halves overlapped and required trimming with my sheet metal shears (photos 1 & 2). All aft bulkhead sheet metal parts are now ready for scuffing, cleaning, and priming of the faying surfaces. I'll completely scuff, clean, and prime the non-alclad parts.
I received my two replacement seatbelt anchors last week, and fit and drilled them to the bottom of the F-705 bulkhead and rear spar carry through bars.
I took the F-711 bulkhead with HS attach bars to the airport to test fit to the horizontal stabilizer to ensure adequate edge distance on the stab attach holes. All looked good, so I trimmed the bars to length. I then laid out and drilled pilots for the HS attach holes. OOPS! I drilled the bottom holes exactly 1 inch too high - 1-7/16 inches from the top rather than the required 2-7/16. Since these bars do hold the horizontal stabilizer to the airplane, I'm going to replace the parts. What's another $20???
