After a week of sorting and putting away tools, inventorying and organization hundreds of plane parts (the rivets were especially fun), building work tables and just general shop preparation, today we began actually building N812CH.
Started in on Section 6, the Vertical Stabilizer. Completed steps 1-3. It was slow going at first, but things really started to pick up as we started to find our groove. I couldn't have been more proud of how Eilish (my 13yo daughter) jumped right in and rolled up her sleeves. I think I even misted up slightly once when I was watching her posiiton the Kleckos right be hind me as I match-drilled the vertical stabilizer spar. I'm sure she will really hate Klecos when this project is done. Then when mom came out to check on us, she explained everything we were doing and why...she really does listen to her old man (pinch me, it has to be a dream).
If she stays interested throughout (a dad can only dream), this project could be just about the coolest father/daughter project ever done.
