Brief Description:  Picked Up Completed Cowling

Picked up the painted/covered cowling from KE Graphics in Raymore. The nose was painted and the checker board was applied as a cover.

Reconnect the transponder antenna in the back of the case by installing the snap ring on the antenna fitting barrow. Attempted the slid the transponder into the case only to have it stop before being fully seated. Rechecked the alignment and fitting but the unit would still not seat. After a second carefully inspection realized that the anchor fitting on the front of the transponder had to be adjusted using a 3/32 allen wrench to complete the seating of the transponder. The transponder was securely seated and the anchor set tightly closed.

Powered up the transponder and went through the initial testing. Everything appears to be working correctly. The unit must be programmed for this installation to set the operating airspeed and Mode S code. It is noted during the test that no altimeter values were displayed.

The forward cover of the fuselage was temporary installed to evaluate the location for the oil filler assembly. It was discover that the blind altimeter mounting bracket was still in the way for the proper alignment of the oil filler. The blind altimeter bracket was alter to mount the blind altimeter in a vertical position. This freed the space necessary for the oil filler assembly to be installed. On mounting the blind altimeter and securing the wiring harness it was discovered that the purple wire was disconnected from the transponder plug.
