Brief Description: Finished Camo Paint and Insignia on Top Left Wing
Finished the touch-up on the camouflage paint on the top left wing to include the black area near the wing tip. Marked the area on the outer wing for the application of the insignia. Wiped the area down with a shop towel damp with denatured alcohol to clean away any residual oils. Laid the insignia in place and secured with masking tape on one half of the backing. The backing had been split near the middle to allow removal a half at a time. Pealed back about 2 inches of the backing and smoothly laid down the decal on the wing. Slowly removed the backing and smoothing down the decal taking specific care along the wing ribs and pop rivets. Pressed out all of the wrinkles on the half of the decal then moved to start the removal of the second half of the backing. Pulled about 3 inches of the backing away from the decal and smoothed down the material on the wing taking specific care over the wing ribs and pop rivets. Continued removing the backing in 2 to 3 inch segments while smoothing down the material with my fingers until the backing was completely removed. Wiped over the insignia with a squeegee to ensure good adhesion.
Moved the top left wing off the table and back onto the wing rack. Removed the bottom lift wing from the wing rack and placed it on the table. Applied areas of olive paint across the top of the wing in a camouflage pattern. End of day.
