Brief Description:  Painting Wheel Covers and Componets

Painted a coat of white paint on the three triangles taped out on each outer wheel cover. Allowed the coat to dry to the touch and then painted a second coat of white paint on the triangles. Applied a coat of paint remover to each of the wheel spacers and set them aside to cure. Applied a coat of paint remover to the front of each of the inter wheel covers and set them aside to cure. Applied a plastic scraper to each of the wheel spacers and removed the old primer paint from the outer surface of the spacers. The aluminum primer paint that had been applied was not adhering to the aluminum effectively without the use of a etching process. Wiped down the spacers with a wet towel and set them aside to dry. Used the plastic scraper to remove the paint from the front side of each of the wheel covers. A second coat of paint remover was applied to those areas where the paint was not coming off easy. The covers were allowed to again set and cure.

The wheel spacers were put on a short piece of pipe and suspended. A spray can of self-etching aluminum primer was used to apply a coat of primer to each of the spacers. They were left to dry. The tops of the inter wheel covers were again scraped clear of the remaining paint. Each of the wheel covers were turned over and the back side of each was painted with the paint remover. After the paint remover was allowed to cure on the paint the initial scraping was begun. The remaining scraping will occur during the next work day.
