Brief Description:  First Finish Coat on Horizontal and Vertical Stabi

Wiped down the bottom of the elevator with a tact rag. Opened the gallon primer can and mixed the paint thoroughly. Opened the new quart can of primer and mixed it thoroughly. Poured primer from the quart can into the paint tray and then emptied the quart can into the larger can for later use. Rolled and tipped a coat of primer onto the bottom of the elevator. Set the elevator aside. Moved the horizontal stabilizer to the table with the bottom up. Sanded the bottom of the horizontal smooth. Wiped away the sanding residue with a shop rag and then the tact rag. Rolled and tipped the bottom of the horizontal stabilizer with a coat of primer. Allowed the horizontal stabilizer to dry. Using a small foam brush touched up the vertical stabilizer with primer where the sanding had thinned the paint. Set the vertical stabilizer aside to dry.

Turned the horizontal stabilizer over so the top is up on the table. Sanded the top with the foam sanding blocks until smooth. Opened the tan finish paint and mixed until consistent. Cleaned up the roller from the primer paint and set it aside. Dumped the remaining primer paint from the roller tray back into the primer paint can. Cleaned the roller tray of the primer paint. Filled the roller tray with the tan finish paint. Applied a coat of finish paint to the vertical stabilizer on both sides and to the top of the horizontal stabilizer with the roller. Dumped the remaining paint in the roller tray back into the paint can and cleaned up the roller and small brush. The second coat of finish paint will be applied during the next work day.
