Brief Description:  Sanding and Painting the Left Side of the Rudder

Wiped down the top of the upper right wing with the 3M polishing pad. Moved the wing from the table to the wing stand. Put the rudder on the table with the left side up. Sanded the edges of the left side of the rudder to smooth any ruff edges. Opened the primer can and mixed the paint. Used a small foam brush covered the sanded areas on the left side of the rudder. Opened the blue can of paint and mixed it until consistent. Used the mini roller to apply a coat of blue paint to the left side of the rudder. Allowed the blue paint to dry to the touch and then applied a second coat of blue paint to the left side of the rudder. Turned the rudder around and applied a coat of blue paint to the right side of the rudder. Applied a third coat of blue paint to the left side of the rudder.

Cleaned up the mini roller and set it aside. Closed up the blue paint and opened the red paint. Mixed the red paint until consistent. Using the mini roller applied a coat of red paint to the left side of the rudder. Allowed the paint to dry to the touch and then applied another coat of red paint to the left side of the rudder. Turned the rudder around and applied a coat of red paint to the right side of the rudder. Applied a third coat of red paint to the left side of the rudder. Set the rudder aside to dry overnight.

Put the elevator on the table with the bottom side up. Used the foam sanding block to start sanding the edges of the bottom of the elevator on the left side. Used the small iron to smooth out wrinkles along the taped edge. Sanding of the edges will have to continue during the next work day.
