Brief Description:  Rolled and Tipped Horizontal Stab and Center Wing

Installed a drain grommet on the vertical stabilizer and the bottom of the rudder. Allowed to dry and then ironed smooth. Used the soldering iron to melt the center hole clear in both grommets.

Put the horizontal stabilizer on the table and attached the elevator. Checked the alignment of the elevator cables and fairing using a fiber glass rod. Found that the right fairing was not correctly aligned with the path of the elevator cable. Used the small iron to remove the fairing. Reset the fairing over the fiber glass rod in correct alignment with the cable path. Glued and ironed the fairing in place. Removed the elevator and installed two drain grommets in the bottom of the elevator. Set the elevator aside. Positioned the horizontal stabilizer with the bottom up and sanded the bottom with the fine sanding sponge. Wiped the bottom clear of the sanding residue and then applied a coat of primer by rolling and tipping each section across the bottom. Turned the stabilizer over and placed it on the table on the foam pads. Carefully sanded the top of the stabilizer and wiped away the residue. Rolled and tipped a coat of primer across the top of the stabilizer. Set the stabilizer aside.

Moved the center wing section to the table and placed it on the foam pads with the top side up. Spot sanded the top and wiped away the residue. Rolled and tipped primer over the top section by section. Turned the wing section over and repeated the process to paint the bottom. The aft left drag cable will have to be secured before the center wing section is moved from the table. For the next work day.
