Brief Description:  Installed AOA Signal Cable in Top Left Wing

Installed the left wing struts into the top left wing.

Patched the small hole in the fabric on the wing tip by sanding around the hole and applying a coat of glue. Laid out the patch and then painted it in place and left it to dry.

Fabricated a Z shaped bracket and drilled one leg to fit the wiring plug. Set the bracket in the solder holder and ID the ground plug. Connected the cable to the plug using care that the ground shield was connected to the correct terminal. Soldered the remaining three leads to terminals on the plug. Slid the heat-shrink tubing in place and set it with the heat gun.

Used the small iron to set the patches on the wing tip and at the wing root. The painting of the patches will be completed during the next work day.

Placed a patch above the opening on the wing root where the air tubing come through, Fabricated a tab and drilled a hole in it to accept the wiring plug. Added the tab to the angle brace supporting the air tubes using two 1/8 inch pop rivets to hold it in place. Melted a hole in the fabric over the opening for the AOA signal wire and smooth the edges. Used a fiberglass rod to slide down the wing through the wiring hole in the root to the opening at the forward wing strut. Tapped the AOA signal wire to the rod and pulled it through the wing to the tab opening. Stripped back an inch of the insulation from the end of the wire and wrapped the ground shield into a single wire. Tinned the end of the ground shield lead. Removed 1/8 inch of insulation from each of the leads and then tinned each end. Soldered the leads to the male plug correctly indexing the ground wire. Set the heat-shrink tubing over the wires and then tighten the plug into the tab in the wing root.
