Brief Description:  Installed the ADS-B Antenna

Painted a 2 1/8 inch aluminum thin washer with gray primer paint. Set it aside to dry. Used the soldering iron to melt a hole in the fabric at the center of the mounting plate on the floor of the fuselage. Used the iron from the bottom of the fuselage to enlarge the melted hole to the full circumference of the mounting hole. After the paint dried on the thin washer clamped it in a vice and drilled out the center hole to fit the antenna mount. Sanded the edges smooth. Applied glue to the area on the bottom of the fuselage around the mounting hole and on the bottom of the thin washer. Removed the nut and lock washer from the antenna and installed it in the bottom of the fuselage with the thin washer in place against the bottom fabric. Placed the lock washer and nut on the antenna and tighten to a sung fit. Connected the cable to the antenna and ran the other end up into the storage area to the echo unit.

Fabricated a mounting bracket from a 1 1/4 inch segment of 90 degree angle of light aluminum to hole the BNC end of the antenna adapter to the echo unit. Mounted the bracket to the side wall of the storage compartment to the left of the echo unit with three #8 X 1/2 inch wood screws. Drilled a hole in the bracket to accept the BNC end of the adapter and tighten it in place. Installed the other end of the adapter to the echo unit. Connect the cable from the antenna to the BNC end of the adapter cable completing the connection to the antenna.

Powered up the system and did not observe any problems on the initial power up. Checkout and configuration of the system will have to wait for the next work day.
