Brief Description:  Start the Install of the ADS-B System

Removed the back of the seat and set is aside. Put a crimp terminal on the end of the red wire for the baggage area. Secured the tubing in the baggage area using a nylon strap and a #8 1/2 inch wood screw. Removed the seat from the aircraft after marking the center and ends were the seat was hitting the seat belt fitting. Used a jig saw to remove those areas marked to clear the seat belt fittings. Used a file to smooth the cut areas. Put a crimp terminal on a segment of 18 gauge black wire and run the wire from the baggage area down to the ground terminal of the emergency battery. Connected the ground wire to the batteries ground terminal.

Drilled a hole for the 3 amp circuit breaker for the ADS-B equipment under the transponder circuit breaker.

The step area of the left wing stub failed on entering the aircraft by depressing into the wing stub about a inch. I was able to reach into the wing stub and straighten the support strap to raise the step back level. Going to have to find a way to reinforce the brace to allow continued use of the wing stub step.

Pulled the ADS-B GPS template from the binder and determined where the unit could be installed on the turtleback. Drilled a pilot hole from the under side of the turtleback. Aligned the template with the drilled hole and marked the remaining four opening needed for the GPS. Drilled the remaining holes. Used a dremel tool to remove the material from the center hole through the covering but not the center rib tube. Final mounting of the GPS will be completed during the next work day.
