Brief Description:  Construction of Blind Altimeter Mount

Made one more attempt to install a micro switch on the right throttle handle. Still having trouble getting the nut to screw on the switch. Had another failure of the switch leads which broke off. Have to wait until my order of additional switches come in to try again.

Investigated the options for the mounting of the blind altimeter and a location where it would fit. Decided on the right side of the fuselage behind the instrument panel under the cross braces. Cut out a section of aluminum the same size as the back of the altimeter. Filed the edges smooth. Used the brake to roll up one end of the section to form a hook. Slid the blind altimeter onto mount and marked the screw end on the mount. Drilled the marked location for a #6 screw and mounted a anchor tarp over the hole. Tested fitted the altimeter to the mount which fitted correctly. Positioned the mount behind the instrument panel and marked the locations of the cross braces on the back of the mount. Cut and formed a segment of sheet aluminum to fit over the cross brace behind the instrument panel. Positioned the segment on the mount and drilled a 1/8 inch hole and secured the segment to the mount with two 1/8 inch pop rivets on one edge next to the end of the bracket. Installed a second strap on the diagonal brace on the mounting tray. The next job is to get the mount secured to the fuselage behind the instrument panel.
