Brief Description: Transponder Antennal and Insignia Instal
Installed the insignia on the right side of the fuselage first. Pealed back about 2 inches of the backing across the top of the insignia. Lined up the top edge about a quarter inch below the top edge of the fuselage. Slowly pulled the backing off of the decal and smooth it in place. Next started removing the top layer of the decal from the top right corner. As the top layer of the decal was removed care was taken in keeping the decal attached to the fuselage. The top cover the decal was removed and the decal was smooth down on the fuselage. Used the heat gun on low setting to go over the decal to ensure a good adheasion to the fuselage. The left side insignia was installed the same way.
Finished adding the last three wires to the radio plug. Printed heat-shrink labels for all remaining wires from the plug. Added a 5/8 inch segment of heat-shrink tubing over all of the wires from the plug and shrink it in place. Tested fitted the plug cases around the wires and moved the wires to get the case to fit. Set the case in place and installed the two mounting screws on each end of the case. Installed the two case screws and tighten them to complete the plug.
Temporarly installed the belly pan on the airplane. Located the position for the transponder antenna and marked it on the belly pan. Taped the template for the antenna on the marked location. Drilled each of the three holes needed for the antenna usint a small bit through the x'es on the template. Removed the template and drilled out each hole to the specifications. Put the antenna through the holes and and marked the bottom. Added the reenforcement plate and marked it outline on the bely pan. Drilled a 1/8 inch hole in the top right corner and installed a cleo. Added a second 1/8 inch hole in the bottom left corner of the plate and installed another cleo. Now completed the holes in the remaining corners of the plate. Final install of the transponder will have to wait a day of so until other work permits.
