Brief Description: Continued Connections for 12V Accessory Plug
This is a day that I wish there was a do-over button for. Finally got the nut on the left side of the solenoid tighten up with all wires installed. Put the battery back into its location and installed the aluminum frame on top. Installed the positive read lead to the battery. Went to install the ground lead to the battery and caused a big short between the battery frame bolt and the hot lead from the solenoid activation post. This resulted in the insulation being melted from the wire and melted the post to the frame bolt. Some how the battery frame bolt got pushed back against the solenoid post and resulted in grounding the battery at that point. It only took about one second to cause the damage. The frame bolt now has a protective sleeve installed on it to prevent any further shorts from happening.
The solenoid was removed and a new interconnect wire will be made to provide power for the activation of the solenoid. A new solenoid was order to replace the damaged one and will be installed when it comes in.
