Brief Description:  Engine Full Power Test Run

Did a walk around inspection of the aircraft noting any leaks or indications of leaks. Found the mount loose on the Flash Value additive bottle. Removed the bottle and added washers to the mounting bolts for the mount and reinstalled it on the frame.

Rolled the aircraft to the front of L hanger and strapped the tail to the fire hydrant. Brought the step-latter out to the left side of the airplane. Stroud on the wing stub step and turned on the electric fuel pump. Primed the engine for 3 seconds. Opened the throttle about a half an inch, turned on both ignition switches and engaged the starter. The engine catches after about 15 seconds on the starter. Engine rpm settled at about 1000. Oil pressure showed 40 on the gage. Let the engine run for five minutes when oil started flowing from the air vent on top of the oil tank. Turned on the electric scavenge pump and stopped the overflow from the oil breather. Continued the run noting that with bright sunlight some of the digital instruments were hard to read. Started to get some oil overflowing from the filler cap. With it connected to the oil tank return line the pressurized oil was backing up into the filler assembly and started it to overflowing.

Brought the power up on the engine until it toped out at 2900 rmp. Held full power for about 15 seconds and brought the power back to slow idle. Pulled the mixture control to full lean but the engine did not shut down. Turned of the ignition switches to stop the engine. Ran the electric scavenge pump for 20 seconds to empty the oil sump.

Lost about a pint of oil in the overflow condition. Went and got kitty litter to clean up the spill on the aspen along with paper towels and oil remover cleaner. Put down the kitty litter on the oil spill. Moved the airplane back into the hanger. Used paper towels to wipe down the right side of the airplane and the complete tail. Following the wipe down, went over the airframe with a cloth towel damped with the oil remover solution.
