Brief Description:  First Engine Start

Inspected the engine, oil system, and fuel system for leaks. Noted fuel leaks at the solenoids. Tighten the output fittings on both solenoids. Hand turned the engine through four complete revolutions of the prop to check for hydraulic lock. Removed the oil tubes from the intake manifolds, closed the values and removed the oil catch can. Rolled the aircraft out of the hanger and positioned near the fire hydrant. Strapped the tail post to the hydrant with two cargo straps. Climbed up on the left side step and checked the ignition switches off. Turned the master switch on and turned the engine through four revolutions with the starter. Turned the electric fuel pump on and noted 3+ pounds of pressure. Applied the primer for about two seconds. Turned the ignition switches on and engaged the starter. The engine hit but failed to run. Hit the primer again and tried to start again. Again a hit but the engine didn't catch. Applied some additional throttle and engaged the starter again. After about four seconds of cranking with the throttle opened a little more the engine catch and started to run at about 1100 rpm on the TAC. Pulled the power back to about 900 on the TAC and let the engine run for about 20 seconds then pulled the power to idle. The rpm fell to about 400 which was too slow. Cut the ignition switches to shut down the engine. Inspected the engine for any leaks or issues and found none. Put the aircraft back into the hanger.

Used a jig saw to cut out the center of the landing light blanks to form a bezel. A slot was ground along the cut line to allow the jug saw to be applied. The center of each blank was removed and the edges smoothed with the angle grinder.
