Reviewing the position of the battery in relation to the fuel tank drain it was discovered that there was a conflict. This necessitated the movement of the battery to the left by 3 1/2 inches. The battery box bottom was cut from the frame using care not to cut into the fuselage. The welded areas were ground smooth.
The battery box bottom was measured for it new location. The sides required 1/2 inch extensions be added to the top ends of the sides and 2 inches added to the bottom ends. The added material was cut as required and fitted to the bottom frame. Each extension was tig welded on both sides. The new bottom was test fitted to ensure the correct lengths of the sides. Each of the welds was ground smooth and the side additions adjusted to line up.
