Mounted the battery box top frame in the drill press and cut a 1 inch circle at each corner on the terminal side of the frame to provide clearance around each terminal. In test fitting the battery box top to the battery it was found to be 3/8 inches too short. Cut one end from the top and added in the additional 3/8 inches to the length of the sides. Rewelded the ends of the box to achieve the correct length to fit over the battery. Cut two 5/8 inch segments of the angle aluminum to serve as mounting brackets to hold the top on the battery. Welded each tap to the ends of the battery box top. Drilled a 1/4 inch hole in each of the tabs. Constructed two hold down bolts for the battery box by welding a nut on the end of a 1/4 inch threaded rod. Mounted the hold down bolt next to the battery with the battery box top in and marked it's length. Cut the rod at the mark and filed the end to accept a nut cleanly. Made the second bolt the same as the first. Mounted each bolt in the battery box bottom by threading an additional nut down the rod to hold it in place. Test mounted the battery to check fitting and alignment.
