Brief Description:  Tail Light Bracket and Rudder Extension

Decided to add a tail light to the rudder. This required the design and fabrication of a bracket for the tail light. Several shapes were considered and one attempt was made to form a clam shaped bracket. The aluminum sheet was not malleable enough to be formed into a clam shaped bracket. A "C" shaped bracket was tried next with one arm of the "C" much longer than the other. A 3/4 inch hole was drilled in the center of the "C" shaped bracket. One end of a length of nylon tubing was attached to the center brace. A small aluminum strap rived to the brace held the tubing in place next to the rudder’s outer frame. The bracket was mounted on the left side of the rudder along the center brace. The long arm of the bracket was shaped and trimmed to connect to the center brace. The short side of the brace was pop riveted to the rudder outer frame.

An extension pipe was added to the bottom of the rudder with the intention of mounting a tail wheel control arm to the bottom of the rudder. The extension was formed to slide up onto the bottom of the rudder and around the lower frame. Final mounting to be determined when the control arm is added.
