I fabricated the hinge assembly for the oil door. I wanted an over center hidden type hinge. Using a four inch section of the left over elevator torque tube, I sliced open the tube, flattened out a section at each end of the round profile and bent to provide mounting points. A four inch section of piano hinge was added for the actual hinge. I did not want the closing fasteners to show so added a hinge section with a pull wire that can be accessed through the front air intake to lock the door shut. I purchased some small piano wire and made a spring, mounting on an extension of the hinge center pin to hold the door in the open position when not latched.
