Brief Description:  wiring the overhead

Now that I am comfortable the, placement of the overhead switch panels is acceptable I am moving forward with the wiring. It is actually tying a number of pieces together that have been assembled separately.

Since several switches need power and/or ground, rather than run a separate wire up from the instrument panel, I added a power and ground buss mounted in the overhead. Like all of the other switch groups, each panel is modular and can be removed with plug in connections. Switch plate back lights, switch tip light feed as well as the various switch functions need to be routed.

The floor, instrument panel and overhead lighting (colored LEDs) as well as the reading and overhead instrument spot lights all need to be routed through 1000-ohm pots for dimming. I also have switches for door light override, when the door is left open for long periods of time, as well as reading lights for when the pilot doesn’t want any ambient back lighting.

I will also need to fabricate an air plenum from the rear to mount inside the overhead.
