Carefully punching screw holes in each panel, then fitting into place takes time. Holes in the carpet are first located with a probe, then melted in with a with a hot awl. After all of the holes have been located the fitting begins. Carpet adds about 1/8 inch when compressed under a panel, leather about 1/16 to 3/32 inch. Where panels are tightly fit between or up against mating surfaces, something needs to give. Generally, it is a trim of the panels. There are a lot of panels, with hours of effort to get them all back in place.
