I started the install of the CPI2 Control Module, Back up Battery and LCD screen. I could not find any location on the interior for the back up battery that was accessible for maintenance. In the end, I placed it on the right firewall about midway up. I figured this would be a good compromise from radiated heat from the exhaust down low and shutdown heat up high. It will likely mean a little more frequent replacement than if it was in the cabin.
The Control Module is between the firewall and the first bulkhead up front on the right. I have the mount set up to where two screws will let the box swing down into view for fuse access. Pulling a hinge pin on the firewall side and the box will come free if that is ever needed.
The LCD will go in the center tunnel close out just above the throttle quadrant. Not my preferred location, but the only one available without moving the seat switches, ELT and rudder trim indicators.
