Lots of details to complete relative to fitting up the cowl. All of the aluminum pins in the hinges were replaced with steel pins. The locking details for each of the pins were fabricated and fitted. The louvers on the bottom cowl were fit up, trimmed and riveted in place. The center lower attachment was fit up and trimmed to fit.
The center lower attachment per the plans was to be bolted in place. I added a plate nut to the lower center front flange instead to make installation and removal a little easier. I also found the front gear leg faring interferes with the lower cowl center attachment and was marked for trimming.
I trimmed the oil door to sit nicely in the upper cowl recess and laminated two layers of foam to the back while everything was fastened into place. The fit of the door came out near perfect and very stiff. I still need to add some glass to the back of the door to strengthen it a little. I will also need to fabricate a hinge to finish this up. I plan on making up a hidden over center hinge rather than the piano hinge per the plans.
