The first section of cowl to be installed is the upper half. Since I haven’t installed the upper front skin, I had to cleco the skin in place with the upper mounting hinges.
I didn't have enough hinge for both upper sections for some unknown reason. I managed to order stainless steel instead of aluminum and decided to use it anyway rather than order another piece of aluminum. In the end I am regretting that decision. It is nearly impossible to push the pin in around the curved cowl with the steel hinge and will need to replace that side with aluminum.
I placed a foam block on top of the engine to set the cowl at the correct height. Leveled and spaced 1/8" from the spinner, marked and trimmed to size. On and off about 10 times to touch up the fit. The aft hinge is drilled and installed and I could move on to the lower cowl.
