My brand new IO540 Thunderbolt engine arrived yesterday!!!!
I got a call from UPS yesterday at 2:45 pm while at work letting me know they couldn't get up my driveway and would like to leave it near the end. With a 45 min drive home, bad weather on the way and an alternative of 1-2 days more wait, I swallowed hard and told them to leave it as far in as they could get. With 50K sitting at the end of my drive, I made it home as fast a traffic allowed.
The engine is safe and sound in my shop, and a thing of beauty! I plan on hanging it this weekend.
Well not so fast. Lycoming mixed up the shipping papers and sent me the wrong engine. This one goes back on the truck and the correct one is on the way for delivery in three days.
Received the correct engine. The other one is on its way to Canada.
