Brief Description:  Fitting the right wing

After reviewing all that would need to be done to fit the wings, I decided to fit first the right wing, then turn the aircraft 180 degrees to fit the left wing. My shop has too much equipment in it to fit both wings at the same time. There is too much to do in the fitting to leave it until the airport final assembly.

With a small bracket bolted to the end of the right wing and two ropes over rafters, I was able to fit and pin the wing without calling in the troops to help. Two 3/8-inch bolts ground to a bullet point made the process fairly easy.

I completed all of the wire attachments. There are wing tip lights, Archer wing tip antenna coax, auto pilot servo, pitot heat, pitot and AOA 1/4" tubes, fuel tank hooks up, and aileron trim all in the right wing.

The aileron and flap are installed and rigged to neutral stick deflection. The flap inboard end was trimmed to fit the fuselage. This was made easy using a belt sander to slowly remove material until a nice fit was achieved. I was able to function the flaps throughout their travel and found one minor interference with the pitot and AOA lines at the rear of the tunnel. An easy fix to just reverse an adle clamp to move the tubes out of the way.

The close out trim panels for the wing root have been bent, drilled, dimpled and trimmed to fit. Additional nut plates installed. Stiffeners installed. Fuselage attach angles formed, drilled, nutplates attached and installed
