Brief Description:  Install GTN650 tray and connectors

One of the problems I have encountered in the wiring process is that the certified Garmin boxes do not have a connector kits available. The GTN650 was my main concern because the wiring is so extensive and Aircraft Spruce sells the connectors only as a pre-wired bundle to the experimental market. I did not want to pay for a harness only to trash the wires and pins to get the connectors.
Stein to the rescue. They pulled a tray/connector kit together from an already purchased (in their inventory) GTN450 and will give me credit for most of the $s when I buy the actual GTN650. That will also keep the warranty period intact, since that starts when you buy rather than install.

A lot of work to install. 4 connectors, three antenna coax wires, a cooling fan, a config module as well as the tray itself. I am very happy that I did not wait until after the front upper skin was on to do this. That would have easily doubled the time to install.

Looking at the whole center stack, I am thinking I need to rework the G5 install to inset it a little. I currently have it attached to the fiberglass. It stands out further than the other instruments as well as needing to be disconnected every time I pull off the fiberglass trim. It would be much cleaner to treat the fiberglass as a removable trim ring without attached instruments.
