Brief Description:  GPS antennas

I decided I will be going all Garmin after cross comparing all of the EAB avionics vendors and finding little difference in the cost for the avionics I will be installing. Having decided that I have been struggling to locate details on the installation requirements that I need to pre-install.

One example is GPS/XM antennas. Each GDU 46x (10.5: EFIS) has an internal GPS if you choose to install an antenna. If you choose not to install an antenna the 46x will take the GPS feed from the installed GPS navigator (6xx or 7xx) For me I will have two GDU 46x, a GTN650 and a G5. G5 has it's own internal antenna, GTN650 requires an external antenna but comes with it, so two are needed for the GDU 46x (one just GPS for the 460 and one with GPS/XM for the 465) So three GPS antennas to find a home for.

The best source of installation requirements and what comes with the components is the G3X installation manual, plus the respective installation manuals not contained in the G3X version. The G3X manual also contains a part number list of all of the connectors for each component.

Edit 11/13/2019; Garmin recommends the G5 have its own antenna. So, make that 4 locations needed.
