Brief Description:  Center stach and console layup

I am finially ready to pull the final part on the center stack. The larger voids in the mold are filled, the 5 coats of wax applied and the PVA sprayed and dry. All of the glass is cut to size and layered into the mold. A few small shots of 77 adhesive hold the layers i place. I have been assured by experts that the 77 adhesive will not affect the integrity of the part. Next comes the peal ply, then the resin distribution media, the resin chanel and the vacume membrane. Once all is sealed and holds vacume, I am ready to inject the resin.

Well the infusion was successful, but not without challenges. I set it up as pictured below. I really struggled to get a good seal due to the odd shape and went ahead anyway. The leak swept resin towards the vacume pump without filling all of the mat. I repositiond the vacume several times and was able to pull resin to all of the areas. Unfortunatly I had to kill the vacume before the resin was pulled to a minimum thickness, so the part is a little heavier than it would have otherwise been.

I also determined that my setup was less than perfect from another direction. When setting up the vacume port and resin injection port. They need to be as far apart as possible with the resin flow media at right angle. That creates a sort of wave that moved towards the vacume port. As you can see in the photo, I didn't do it that way.

In the end, I have a part that will do the job. It looks nice in the plane.
