I decided to fit the canopy top now that the plane is on the floor. I have plans for some work on the overhead console that I didn't want to start until the top had been fit.
Trimming the edges was rather straight forward if messy. A 4 1/2" angle grinder from HF (I keep several around with various disks on them) with a metal cut off wheel. I kept a shop vac and my big dust collector running all the time to suppress the dust as much as possible. I helped, but still left a coating everywhere. For the doors and windows the access just didn't work with the angle grinder, so I used a multi-tool with a carbide blade. Standard blades lasted about 1" before the teeth were gone. For the really tight inside corners, I used a die grinder with w carbide burr.
