After all the effort to fit in the fuel filter/boost pump/transducer in a nice neat long string ... it interfered with the elevator control travel. I did a little rework moving the fuel filter to the left tunnel side, just above the fuel pump. That fixed the problem. It will be easier to access for cleaning there anyway. So much the better.
I have also found that a drop of light oil on the flaring tool makes for really nice flares.
