Brief Description:  Oshkosh 2015

For Oshkosh this year I was able to take my father along. We flew in on Monday and back out on Wednesday. The original plan was Sunday, but many out of town guests preparing for the wedding made a Sunday departure an act of domestic violence. So Monday morning it was.
Dad has some trouble with his leg, so with no knowldge on how to get into the GA handycap parking in the noth 40, I made up a wheelchair sign to put in the window along with the GAC sign. It took a while for someone to recognize what I was after, but eventually, after a very long taxi around to the wrong side of the field, we were led to the area. I was told by one of the other handycap campers, it is best to stop and refuse to taxi until you get someone's attention to escort you into the area if that is your goal.

It is right next to the entry to the North 40 adjacent to the ticket sales booth. Any time we needed assistance to get to the handycap cart rental booth (by the way $70/day seems a little steep for cart rental) the security booth would call a golf cart to take us over. Dad got by with less walking at the convention than when he was at home! I am very greatful for all of the nice people that helped us out. Dad was overwhelmed by the number and variety of aircraft and I was able to gather additional info for the build. He is still talking about the trip weeks later.

I looked at about 40 RV-10s as only a fellow builder can, getting ideas and seeing how people were finishing off various details. Of particular interest were tip farings. were they blended into the aluminum or riveted and left ... about half and half. What suprised me is how many were half and half on the same plane.

The real bummer is that I left my phone and camera at home on the table, so no pics.
