Brief Description:  Fuselage kit inventory

It's been a couple of slow weeks, at least for the airplane build. We have had severe cold, guests visiting and very busy work schedule. When it gets this cold the heater in the shop can't keep up much beyond 50 degrees in the warmest spots. The floor level stays cold and eventually freezes your feet.

With the empenage mostly complete. I decided to go for the rest of the fuselage next. I know it is more typical to do wings, but with a 5 year buils schdule (give or take a year or two) I don't want the wings sitting around for that long picking up rash. I also think the systems installed in the fuselage will be the largest part of the build, and keep my busy the longest. The only difference from Van's point of view is they add the center section of the wing spar to the fuselage kit upping the price a little over $1,000.00 since it gets built into the fuselage.

The crate (4 x 4 x 8 foot) arrived with one end mostly knocked out. I was worried about damage or possibly something having fallen out and lost. Everything was well secured inside the crate and no damage, so far so good. At first glance I thought, OK, this doesn't look like much for 18K. Now that I have been going through, unpacking ans doing an inventory for almost 8 hs, it becomes a much more impressive lot of parts! Each individually packaged sub-kit has an impressive number of bits puzzled inside.

Once this task is done, I will move back to the tail feathers and install the fiberglass tips. Then on to the rest of the fuselage.
