Manual Reference:  Chapter 3
Brief Description:  Hot Wire Cutter

I used a 68" 2x4 and cut the three 10degree holes in it as per the plans in Chapter 3. I couldn't find any steel tubing smaller than 1/2" conduit so I used the 1/2". My son Noah drilled the holes while I held the 2x4.

For the power supply, I connected an old lamp cord to a dimmer switch, then through an on/off switch and a 10amp fuse then to the primary side of 150VA (120V to 24V) 60HZ transformer. I wired a 15 foot electrical cord from the secondary side of the transformer to the probes in the cutter. I drilled a hole in the bottom of each of the conduit tubes (probes) and used a bolt with a washer and a nut. I connected the wire to probes using this bolt/washer/nut assembly.

I wanted to purchase the chapter 3 supplies and some more tools but I have to wait a little while for the $$$$. We've decided to send 2 of our 4 children to summer camp for a week.
