Brief Description:  Laminated Top Longerons

Workshop temperature was set to 27 deg C overnight and the humidity was 47%.

Material Used: 6 strips of 0.25 inch x 1 inch x 105 inch spruce.

Epoxy was mixed by combining 46g resin and 17.5g hardner. Only 1 batch of expoxy was required for this step.

Jason and I painted the mating surfaces of the spruce strips with epoxy and clamped them (3 strips per side) in place tight against the jigs. Nails were driven into the worktable to help hold the longerons in place. A smooth transition curve was created where FJB meets FJC and the excess length extended equally at both ends of the jigs. To further improve the clamping of the strips with the nails, string was tied tightly pulling opposite nails together as can be seen in the photos.

The longerons are curing in the shop at room temperature (21 deg C).
