Brief Description:  Fabricate Aluminum Inserts for Firewall

The plans call for four 1" x 1" x 1/4" aluminum plates to be embedded in the permanent firewall for the engine mount. Other Cozy builders have suggested to oversize these aluminum inserts and go with 2 inches square. In Chapter 23, apparently it's difficult to make an engine mount that will fit to the exact dimensions shown in the plans. Welding creates a lot of heat, which causes the engine mount to bend and contort with the heating and cooling cycles and so the footpads on the mount won't exactly be on centre.

To avoid any alignment issues later, I decided to take this advice.

Ted Roberts ( Thanks to Ted and his metal shop! ) provided four 2" x 2" x 1/4" aluminum pieces for the cause. I filed the surfaces smooth where the aluminum was cut and the parts are ready to be cleaned and prepared for insertion into the firewall.
