The shop temperature was 84 degrees F and humidity was 48%.
The bookend was propped up with some cardboard and bricks for easy access to the bottom for the layup work.
4 plies of 10" x 10" UND glass cloth was cut and rolled in the basement then brought out to the shop.
2 pumps of hardner/resin were mixed with flox. Approximately 2 parts flox for 1 part epoxy.
The flox was used to fill the corners. This was applied using a mixing stick.
1 pump of hardner/resin was mixed with microballoons to make micro slurry. Approximately 1:1 micro to epoxy ratio.
The slurry was applied using a 1 inch paintbrush.
A third cup of straight epoxy was mixed (2 pumps). The epoxy was applied to the existing glass with a 1.5 inch paintbrush.
The first ply was applied on diagonal orientation, the second ply was applied on a diagonal orientation in the opposite direction, the third play was applied on a vertical orientation, and the final ply was applied on a horizontal orientation. A squeegee was used to wet the cloth on each layer and a 1.5 inch paintbush was used to stipple each ply.
Excess cloth was cut off using scissors.
After approximately 1.5 hours the electric scissors and a knife were used to cut the edges as closely as possible. After 12 hours of curing then the piece will be sanded and complete.
