Brief Description:  ELT Support Bracing/Mounting Tray

Today I deciced to fabricate the support bracing for the ELT mounting tray. I preiviously had ordered the ACR ARTEX Model 345 ELT. It came with the ELT transmitter, antenna, panel switch for testing and activation, antenna cable and hardware. I am glad I read all the installaton instructions for the Dynon system and the instructions for the ELT. The Dynon system uses a NMEA standard for sending GPS data to the ELT. However the ELT was programmed for Aviation standard and would not have worked. So I sent the ELT back to the manufacture to have it programmed for the NMEA standard. I shoiuld get it back later this week. Also the instructions say not to mount the ELT directly to the floor and give very specific instructions on how to mount it. Mainly they want you to make sure you have a very strong bracing system to bolt the ELT mounting tray to. So I used some 1/8"x1"x1" L angles and riveted them to the exisiting L angle at the back and another L angle at the front as shown in photo 1. Next I bolted the mounting tray to an 1/8" aluminum plate with 8-3/16" bolts with lock nuts. Lastly, I drilled and bolted the mounting tray plate to the L angle braces with 1/4" SST bolts with lock nuts. Once I get the ELT back, I can mount it in place and connect the wiring.
