Brief Description: Installed Oil dip stick door in cowling
After attending the Open Hangar days and seeing what everone else had done with oil dip stick door, I decided to take a different approach. Everyone I talked to about thiis said it was very difficult to get to dip stick with the way the door opening was installed. So I decided to make sure the hole I cut for the opening was centered on the dip stick so it would be easy to get my hands on it. With that in mind, I also decided since the dip stick was right in the center of the bubble seam on the cowling, I decided to use the fiberglass piece that I cut out to make the hole for the door. This way I did not have to make compound bends ti the metal door that was provided in the FWF kit. I think it will worik fine. I plan to use 2 dzeus fasteners to make sure the door stays shut. In the last picture you can see the dip stick at center left of the picture. I now feel much better about this knowing I can access the dip stick with ease.
