Brief Description: Fit Aileron and Flap/ Balance Arm
Started today with trial fitting left flap and aileron to wing. This takes some time if you do it by yourself. Having someone assist would make this go much faster. Once I had the flap in place I put on the aileron. This was more time consuming than the flap since you have the bellcrank rod to deal with to check bolt clearance for the flap. Once I was sure everything fit, I drilled out the aileron into the rear channel to final size A5. I also made a balance arrm out of wood and used it to find where on the rear channel I needed to cut the opening for the balance arm to go inside the wing. I am glad I did this because the dimensions in the plans didnt match up exactly with where my balance arm hole shoiuld be. I also opened up both ailerons and torqued the nuts on the bolts holding the balance arm in place. I will not rivet top skin on ailerons until they are insalled on the wing again and I can make sure everyhing fits. Since I had some time left today I drilled out the access cover plates for the aileron bellcrank and also for the fuel fittings. I will install the nutplates maybe tomorrow.
