I started today with some concern because I decided I would work on the fuel tank while I am waiting to get my order of more A5 clecos. Putting the cork on was an easy job. My concern was making sure I couild get the vent tube and the drain valve connection holes drilled in the correct locations. This is not something you want to mess up! I started by measuring the location of the drain and vent on the tank and trying to mark these measurements on the bottom nose skin. I was never quite sure this was going to work. So after measuring a number to times, I decided to make a template of the locations for the drain and vent tube. This turned out better than I thought it would as you can see in pictures 2 and 3. I also started working on the fuel sender. I am going to install it on top of the tank instead of on the side. The top seems like a better place for this to be located. However I will have to modify the fuel sender to reduce the height of the sender above the tank. There is only about 8mm at best between the top of the fuel tank and the nose skin. I have an idea on how to do this and I will try it out tomorrow to see if it will work.
