Brief Description:  Riveting the Forward Fuselage 1

Painted anti corrosion paint on several parts this morning and commenced to riveting when it dried. This morning I riveted the gear channel, rear seat panel, wing uprights, torque tube bearing housing, and the aileron control stop. The entire floor of the aircraft it now riveted into one continuous piece. This was my first time riveting while lying on my back on a garage creeper sliding around underneath the plane. It's not as easy as it seems it would be just lying around...

After riveting, I took the opportunity to install the control torque tube which involved drilling an AN-3 bolt hole through a locking collar at the front end of the tube. I got to use my new drill press and centering V-block to hold the collar and tube in place - worked like a champ. I have concerns about the aileron stop though - it seems overly restrictive in the amount of torque tube rotation allowed. I'm going to check in with Zenith to see if what I'm seeing is ok.
