Brief Description:  Tail Section Wrap Up

Got up this morning to clean up from the weekend's work when it struck me: I have pretty much completed the tail section until I attach it to the fuselage a few hundred tasks into the future. So I took the opportunity to show off the completed section. The first picture is a close approximation of what the empennage will look like after it is attached to the fuselage. For scaling purposes, the table is a 4' x 6' table and the assembly extends past the long ends of the table by a foot on each end.

Picture two contains the mandrels for all the rivets I used during construction of the tail section ... so far. I will still need to rivet the stabilizer tips the elevator hinge onto the stabilizer, but that's a task recommended for after the stabilizer is attached to the fuselage. I will also need to rivet nut plates to the access panel for the trim servo. Seems like a lot. It didn't seem like so many during the build process.

Now I look forward to 12 March when the wing section arrives. Between now and then I'm going to start polishing the tail section and I'll need to prep the garage as I'm moving the operation up there for the larger parts of the build.

Rivet mandrels from the tail section. Nope - I'm not going to count them
