Brief Description:  Final Prep, Elevator Start

Did the final prep for the stabilizor which involved a little disassembly, deburing, and anti-corrosion painting of the tip ribs and hinge areas.

While I was waiting for the Cortec to dry on the stab parts, I started on the elevator by prepping the 2 middle elevator ribs to hold the elevator center channel. This was accomplished by cutting, filing, drilling, then cleco-fastening a custom fit "L" bracket to one side of each of the two ribs. The "L" brackets came from what was once the 4 foot-long piece of "L" bracket that was also used to attach the tip ribs to the stab spars. After adding these to brackets to the elevator ribs, I still have over 2.5 feet of "L" bracket remaining. Hopefully that's enough for whatever future use I'll have for it.

I then clamped, drilled, and cleco fastened the elevator center channel to the ribs via those custom "L" brackets and set it aside...

...because the Cortec had dried, so I reassembled the stab to be all ready for riveting tomorrow.
