Brief Description:  Skeleton Assembled

Reassembled the horizontal stabilizer this morning. I'm glad I spent plenty of time labeling everything with top, bottom, front, rear, and their part number plus a well-placed arrows and alignment lines. It's easy to make a mistake slapping all this back together at 0530 especially when you're all excited about getting out the pneumatic riveter! In this case, at least, it all went back together with no problems.

I didn't want to mess up putting A4 rivets in the wrong holes, so I made sure every A4 hole had a copper-colored cleco in it before I starting poking A5 rivets into their respective holes. I fired up the air compessor to fill up the tank (takes about 3 minutes), changed the rivet head on the riveter to A5-size, slugged back a couple more swallows of coffee and got to it. I'm still amazed that the sound of that air compressor pump doesn't wake up the chief engineer while she's still sleeping, but I guess the 2-story difference is enought to muffle the sound.

I finished off all the pre-set A5 rivets, unfastened the A5 clecos and riveted their holes into place. I put away the A5 rivets got out the A4 rivets, changed the rivet head on the riveter back to A4 and went after the remaining rivets. No errors, no bad rivets, no problem. The skeleton feels really solid.
